Happy Friday!
Sharing a few motherhood poems ahead of Mother’s Day– 3 are from Same, out October 21 (and the first 2, I’m SO excited to say, are new—never shared before!).
My favorite thing is when people tell me how they’ve shared one of my poems with someone in their life and how it helps them connect and celebrate in a way that is special and unique to them. The poems become their words, not just mine.
That is my dream for Same- that it will not just be a book that sits on a bookshelf but it will be an object that you breathe life into- that you pick up and ship to a loved one far away—a mom, a sister, a daughter away at college, that you bring to dinner with friends, that you drop off in a neighbor’s mailbox with a circled page. READ THIS ONE! You’ll write. And they’ll read my words but really, the words will be yours, too.
Same won’t be able to be shared this mother’s day, but I’m sharing these poems with the hope that they will make you think of the mothering relationships in your life- the ones who have mothered you, the ones you have mothered, the ones you have mothered with.
If you pre-order Same (available here or at your local bookstores) for one or more of these mothers, email me at hannah@hannahrowrites.com before Sunday, May 11 and I’ll send you one (or more) of the digital prints shared here for you to send to them in the meantime. In the email, let me know:
Who you ordered the book for
Which poem you’d like to share with them (I’m happy to send more than one poem!)
…and I’ll respond back with the digital print.
