Winter joy
Hi, happy New Year and welcome to this year’s edition of reframing winter on the East Coast!
Here’s a poem to celebrate January and two ideas for how use poetry to gather the ones you love and beat winter gloom this year!

Same book club: Gather your friends and host a book club. Poetry books (in my opinion) are a perfect pick for a spur of the moment book club— everyone can come with a few poems that resonated with them and read them together.

What a year for you, Hannah! Congratulations!!
Love the spur of the moment book club idea for poetry collections! Traditional book clubs get bogged down in scheduling months ahead, but poetry's bite-sized format lets people actually show up prepared without the homework guilt. Organized one last winter where everyone just brought their favorite poem from any book, and the variety of perspectives on what resonated was unreal. The January-as-friend framing is nicley done too, especially the bit about listening while everyone else talks?
